Jing Wang

Jing Wang is a solicitor in the corporate team, based in the Bristol office.

Jing has been a qualified lawyer in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) since 2014 and qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales in 2017. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Hokkien.

Jing joined Shakespeare Martineau in October 2022. Specialising in corporate law and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), she advises on a broad range of corporate transactions, acting for both buyers and sellers on share and asset acquisitions and disposals, management buyouts, corporate reorganisations, and employee ownership trust transactions.

She works closely with international investors, management teams, and stakeholders of multinational companies, SMEs, and owner-managed businesses. She also supports the firm’s banking and tax teams on the corporate aspects of transactions and tax planning matters, and advises lenders and high-net-worth individuals. Jing regularly collaborates with PRC and international legal professionals on cross-border projects and transactions.

Prior to joining Shakespeare Martineau, Jing spent nearly five years in the China practice group of an international law firm based in Shanghai. During this time, she primarily advised European multinational companies and SMEs on their China-related business operations. Her work covered a wide range of corporate and commercial matters, including joint ventures, acquisitions, commercial contracts, insurance, licensing, compliance, and dispute-related issues.

Earlier in her career, Jing advised shipping companies, cargo owners, insurers, and other industry stakeholders on shipping and maritime claims.

Drawing on her extensive experience as a PRC-qualified lawyer advising international clients on inbound investment into China, Jing now leads the firm’s China Desk initiative. As China Desk Lead, she is responsible for shaping the firm’s China strategy, strengthening engagement with the Chinese and Asia-Pacific business communities, and fostering cross-border opportunities between the UK and China.

Jing is a member of the Association of Chinese Lawyers in Europe (ACLE) and the Bristol & West of England China Bureau. She writes and speaks on China-UK investment, cultural intelligence, the evolving legal and regulatory landscapes of China and the UK, sustainable business and ESG, and the experiences of Chinese professional women living and working in the UK.
