Midlands Care, which owns and operates nine care homes in Leicestershire, has acquired Gokul-Vrandavan in Windsdor Avenue, with the support of local law firm Shakespeare Martineau.
Gokul-Vrandavan offers culturally-sensitive residential and dementia care for Gujarati speakers and those with Asian heritage, including specialist dietary requirements, cultural activities, prayers and connections to a variety of places of worship.
All staff will be retained as part of the acquisition and the care home will continue its legacy of an inclusive, multi-faith environment that provides much-needed support to a growing ageing Asian population in the local area.
Shyamal Raja, managing director of Midlands Care, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to include Gokul-Vrandavan in our portfolio of care homes. For myself and my family this has been 20 years in the making – my father and founder of Midlands Care, Sailesh Raja, has viewed the premises as a critical part of the community and has dreamed of taking it on to continue its great work in providing compassionate care, with Asian lifestyles at the heart of its provision.
“Midlands Care is committed to addressing the unmet needs of diverse communities and this acquisition further solidifies our dedication to provide inclusive support across a variety of faiths and cultures. Things like offering vegan and vegetarian meals, cultural activities and spaces for prayer cannot be underestimated in their impact on health and wellbeing of residents.”
Local law firm Shakespeare Martineau supported with the acquisition, providing transactional and strategic advice on the purchase as well as refinancing support.
Roger Harcourt, corporate partner at Shakespeare Martineau who led the deal with the support of commercial property expert Emma Ali, said: “We are delighted pleased to have been part of making a dream come true for the Raja family. The deal will take Midlands Care’s portfolio to 10 sites across the East Midlands, and demonstrates their commitment to providing excellent care across the region. It’s a privilege to be involved in their growth story.”
Gokul-Vrandavan supports 27 residents with round-the-clock care.
