Experienced construction and property litigation lawyer Clare Reed has joined our London hub as a partner.

Having started her career working in the construction professional indemnity field, Clare brings with her more than 22 years’ post-qualified experience, where she has gained significant skills acting on a wide range of high-valued construction claims domestically and internationally.

She has joined us following almost five years as a principal at EMW Law. Prior to this, she spent more than four years as a partner and director in Nicholas & Co Solicitors’ dispute resolution team.

In her new role, Clare – who will be based at our London hub but working with clients nationally – will be handling complex construction-related disputes on behalf of building contractors, suppliers and sub-contractors, landlords, property developers, private clients (including high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients), and agents.

Clare said: “I am delighted to have joined Shakespeare Martineau’s construction team as a contentious construction partner – the firm’s drive and ambition for growth was a real draw for me and I am looking forward to helping Shakespeare Martineau grow in this area of law in London and nationwide.

“Construction was my area of choice following qualification. It’s an extremely interesting area of law due to the different professions and trades within the industry, which makes the work diverse and varied. In particular, I enjoy helping my clients resolve disputes so they can move forward productively to complete the project or the works and carry on with their business.”

We are proactively seeking talented people to join the firm on its growth journey, including mergers, team recruitment and lateral hires nationally. Clare’s appointment is the latest in a string of new hires as part of the firm’s growth strategy, broadening its footprint both north and south.

Ruth Phillips, head of construction said: “We are thrilled to welcome Clare to the firm at a time when we are continuing to support our construction clients in an ever-evolving landscape. For more than two decades, Clare has focused entirely on the construction industry, so her detailed sector-specific experience combined with her commitment to excellence in service delivery will be a real asset to our team.”
