Deeya is a dual qualified solicitor having qualified and practised initially in India for over 3 years in the mergers, acquisitions and general corporate space. She then qualified as a solicitor of England and Wales in 2023.
Deeya has over five years’ experience working on a variety of transactions including share subscriptions, purchases and sales, mergers, reorganisations and schemes of arrangement, joint venture arrangements and business transfers. She has drafted complex corporate agreements and advised both domestic and foreign clients on a variety of corporate matters.
Deeya obtained her LLM from the London School of Economics and Political Science with a specialism in corporate and commercial laws. During the degree, she studied courses on corporate finance, corporate governance, mergers, acquisitions and restructurings in Europe, corporate rescue and reorganisation, legal aspects of private equity and venture capital and digital rights, privacy and security.
She joined Shakespeare Martineau in 2022 after her LLM and has been working on the Corporate team.
In India, Deeya has, amongst other things, worked on, one of the largest mergers in the financial services space in India, a direct listing of a company on a stock exchange, various insolvency and bankruptcy related matters and also advised both domestic and foreign clients on the regulatory regime governing foreign investment in India and matters involving the securities market regulator in India.
