Law firm Shakespeare Martineau has further expanded its presence in Lincoln with a duo of hires, including heavyweight residential conveyancing partner Ed Atkin.

With more than 18 years’ post-qualified experience, Ed joins the firm from Wilkin Chapman in Grimsby. In his new role, he will be responsible for growing Shakespeare Martineau’s Lincoln offering and building its residential conveyancing team in the city.

After starting his career as a commercial property solicitor, Ed moved to the residential conveyancing team in 2014. During this time, a large proportion of his work has been at the top-end of the housing market, dealing with multi-million-pound transactions.

Ed said: “I am delighted to have joined a renowned national firm at a time when it is building something new and exciting in Lincoln. I am looking forward to using my experience to further establish the residential property team in the city, while also adding to the firm’s high-value conveyancing offering and client base.

“Residential conveyancing is extremely rewarding as you are working with clients during what is often a stressful and emotional time. Being able to look after them throughout that journey and bringing the matter to a conclusion that allows them to start the next chapter in their life is very satisfying.”

Also newly-appointed is agricultural associate Alex Wensor, who joins the firm in Lincoln following almost four years at HCR Hewitsons and three years at Roythornes Solicitors. In his new role, he will be advising rural businesses on property transactions, including sales, purchases, lettings, commercial leases and easements.

Alex said: “Lincolnshire is renowned for farming so it is a great place to be an agricultural solicitor. I was attracted to Shakespeare Martineau’s drive to continue the growth of its farming expertise and its ability to offer a wide variety of services to farmers and landowners.”

These appointment follows a raft of new hires for Shakespeare Martineau in Lincoln, including private client legal director Emma Carr, corporate solicitor Nana Maisuradze, and senior conveyancing assistant Adam Jakubik.

Helen Molloy, employment partner at Shakespeare Martineau, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Ed and Alex to our growing team as we continue our investment in the Lincolnshire market. Both have strong knowledge of the Lincolnshire area, so we are looking forward to them continuing their great work with us here at Shakespeare Martineau.”

Shakespeare Martineau is proactively seeking talented people to join the firm on its growth journey, including mergers, team recruitment and lateral hires nationally.
