Covid-19 vaccine – what employers need to know

Can you make the vaccine compulsory? Or penalise employees who refuse?

While there may be some employers in certain sectors who can justify requiring their employees to take the vaccine – for example healthcare where the risk of not taking it can be detrimental to vulnerable people in their care – this will not apply across the board.

Employers need to consider all relevant factors: the nature of their business, employee health and safety, employment law and human rights before imposing such demands on their employees.

In this webinar, Matt McDonald – partner in our employment team – discusses the key employment law considerations and potential pitfalls.

We cover:

Whether an employer can require its employees to take the vaccine
What happens if an employee refuses
Discrimination risks
What are the alternatives?
