Nick has over 25 years experience of working in Bristol as a specialist employment lawyer, dealing with all aspects of employment law. Whilst he predominantly acts for business owners, employers and senior executives he also assists employees with the difficult issues that they can face in their employment. He has extensive experience of advising employers on the strategic employment law issues affecting their businesses, including TUPE, redundancy, collective consultation, executive severance and HR support.
He also advises on employment law aspects of business acquisitions and conducts employment law litigation in the courts and employment tribunals, with particular interest in defending claims. Nick is a Member of the Employment Lawyers Association, Bristol Law Society and is Company Secretary of the West of England Aerospace Forum.
Nick also works with business owners on business immigration issues, including obtaining sponsor licences for work visas, including Skilled Worker and Global Business Mobility routes. He also advises on employee incentives, including establishment of employee share schemes and EMI options.

Having studied in Bristol, Nick trained as an employment solicitor at Lyons Davidson, where he progressed to Partner in charge of the firm’s Bristol employment team. In 2017 he joined Gregg Latchams (subsequently GL Law), to head up the firm’s employment team, and in 2019 was promoted to a Director of the firm. In October 2022 GL Law merged with law firm Shakespeare Martineau and Nick became a Partner in the national firm. He brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise specialising in all aspects of employment law including advising employers, business owners and senior executives on the strategic employment law issues affecting their business.
Nick is married and lives in Bristol with his family. He has three teenage boys who keep him busy playing dad taxi. He loves F1 racing and spends a lot of his spare time at the Kart track with his kids. He rides a vintage Vespa in the summer.
I’m passionate about getting positive results for my clients. Our employment is such a personal aspect of our whole selves, and for many forms a large part of who we are.
