We recently attended the Multilaw Global Conference in Munich. We welcomed the opportunity to engage with our colleagues from across the world in such a beautiful city, facilitated by our connections at Heussen.
Across the four days, we attended a host of insightful panel discussions and workshops from ESG to AI to share ideas on the future and how these topics impact various practice sectors.
Among the variety of talks that went on, we attended a thought-provoking discussion led by keynote speaker Esteban Mezzano, General Counsel Corporate Operations at Nestlé, on building a sustainable business. We explored the practices that both businesses and the planet can benefit from and the risks and opportunities that come with it.
Alongside the Multilaw conference, the Next Gen lawyers’ summit took place, where Lucy Hemming, Legal Director at Shakespeare Martineau and committee member of the Next Gen committee, played a key role in organising.
Throughout this event, we attended talks including ‘“the good future” is entirely possible’, led by keynote speaker Gerd Leonhard, CEO of the Futures Agency. Here we discussed the future of technology vs humanity. Following the same theme, we later discussed the future of AI and technology and how we humans can pivot in the right direction to make the most of the technological advances’ society is making.
We were also thrilled to experience some highlights within the team during our time in Munich, including Catherine Moss, partner in our corporate team, being elected as chair of the global corporate and commercial practice group. We also celebrated Jon Heuvel, partner in our employment team, on being re-elected as EMEA regional chair and remaining as a member of the board and management committee for another two-year term. Furthermore, we were also delighted to have been highly commended as a Green Law Firm of the Year at the inaugural Multilaw awards.
Since the conference came to a close, we have played an active role in the establishment of the Tax Practice Group and the Energy Practice Group. As well as working with Luxembourg on a new guide for the Banking Practice Group. We are thrilled to be a part of such a diverse group with connections across the globe and look forward to the next opportunity that we get to come together and collaborate again.
