Leading full-service law firm Shakespeare Martineau has built on its Scots law offering with the appointment of dispute resolution partner Fiona Pask in Edinburgh.

Bringing with her more than 17 years of litigious experience, Fiona will be heading up the dispute resolution team and developing the firm’s litigation practice in Scotland.

Throughout her career, Fiona has acted in complex and high-value litigations for various public bodies, companies and private individuals. She has extensive experience of Court of Session practice and procedure, Sheriff Court practice, leading fatal accident inquiries, and alternative dispute resolution, particularly mediation.

Fiona said: “I am delighted to have joined Shakespeare Martineau in Scotland, a certified B Corp firm that embodies a culture of bravery, collaboration, trust and authenticity. For me, this means I am free to develop and grow a team in a supportive environment. The firm has an impressive national client base, and I look forward to working with clients, adopting an outcomes-based approach in dealing with their disputes.

“The great thing about being a litigator is that you can be involved in nearly anything. One day, you are advising the agent of a former England football manager, and the next you are trawling through allegedly contaminated recyclable waste (thankfully only virtually). You need to become an expert in the detail of the dispute, and that is something that I love to do.”

Fiona’s appointment comes after Shakespeare Martineau hired triple-qualified commercial and corporate partner Trevor Fenton, dual-qualified real estate legal director Nicky Grant, and Grant Docherty to lead the firm’s banking practice in Scotland. The firm also recently welcomed commercial property and real estate finance solicitor Myeda Aarif.

Grant Docherty, partner at Shakespeare Martineau (Scotland) LLP and head of the firm’s Edinburgh hub, said: “I am really excited to welcome Fiona to the firm to head up and grow our dispute resolution team in Scotland. We are committed to providing a tailored service to our clients, and Fiona is a key part of our expansion.

“There are very few disputes she has not had some form of experience with, which will be invaluable as we continue to develop our practice and makes her ideally placed to support our wider network.”

Shakespeare Martineau is proactively seeking talented people to join the firm on its growth journey, including mergers, team recruitment and lateral hires nationally.
