Brexit and Intellectual Property: an update

In previous webinars, which can be viewed here, Mauro Paiano and Daniel Goodall provided insight into how Brexit would impact UK and EU intellectual property rights and offered some practical advice for IP owners.

The new relationship between the EU and UK took effect on 1 January 2021, with changes to UK Intellectual Property law to implement the UK’s departure from EU IP systems and ensure that owners of EU rights benefit from equivalent protection in the UK.

Now six months on, Mauro Paiano and Daniel Goodall provided an update on the position and covered the below topics:

Jurisdiction of the English Courts in cases instigated prior to 1 January 2021 involving EU IP rights
Geographical Indications
Important deadlines to be aware of
Practical pointers in relation to ongoing EU trademarks and Community registered designs
