Shakespeare Martineau takes top award at The British Wills and Probate Awards 2022

Shakespeare Martineau has won Charity Legacy Probate Collaboration of the Year at the British Wills and Probate Awards 2022. The award was sponsored by the Institute of Legacy Management.

The awards took place on 20 October in the stunning surroundings of the Grand Hotel in Birmingham. The team was shortlisted for two awards including Probate Provider of the Year – Midlands and North.

Taking the top spot the firm was celebrated for its “coordination and cohesion” in the firm and that is has acted for over 100 well known charities.

The awards are in their 5th year and bring together firms large and small, suppliers to the sectors, charities and many more to celebrate the great work undertaken in this critical sector. Several hundred guests were in attendance, with many more joining online via a live stream, enjoying the celebrations.

The judging panel was made up of parties connected to the industry – from legal representatives, to IT consultants, charities and industry bodies.

Andrew Wilkinson, head of the charity legacy team at Shakespeare Martineau, said, “We are absolutely thrilled and delighted to have won this prestigious award. To be recognised by our peers for the important work we do for some of the UK’s largest charities is so rewarding and humbling.” 

Debra Burton, partner in the charity legacy team, along with others in the team, accepted the award on behalf of the firm. She said she was “ it was a fabulous event with a wonderful atmosphere and it was great for the team to get this recognition of their hard work over the last couple of years – we look forward to continuing our collaboration with our charity clients old and new”
