A member of our social housing team, Ellis advises registered providers on all aspects of corporate governance.

Corporate governance advice includes mergers, restructuring, collaborative working, regulatory compliance and many of the other unexpected queries that social housing providers have to deal with on a day-to-day basis.

As a charity lawyer he is also able to help social housing providers navigate the charity land disposal regime, and a range of charity law matters including registration with the Charity Commission, responding to Commission inquiries, drafting and amending governing documents, incorporation, mergers and transfers, dissolution, the creation of group structures, compliance, trustee duties, and trading matters.

Ever enthusiastic about governance, Ellis is a trustee of two local charities in his spare time. He also enjoys playing badminton and singing in a male voice choir.

What clients have said about Ellis- “I find him very approachable and amenable to the random and unexpected queries that he helps me deal with. He has a good sense of humour – that works well under our circumstances! He provides a prompt, courteous and personalised service that feels more like a partnership than client-solicitor relationship. I feel confident that he can deal with any query I could throw at him, and have every confidence in all the work he undertakes on my behalf.”

“I have really enjoyed working with you on this project. You made the whole process easy and stress free. You dealt with queries promptly; produced the documentation without delay and seamlessly brought it to a successful conclusion. Given our previous experience, I would say, you were better than good! You were outstanding! Thank you.”

“you have a uniquely informed and amiable manner, that establishes a firm ground for professional dialogue and relationship”
