Control systems integration services provider ACS has been acquired by Edwin James Group, for an undisclosed sum, with the support of Shakespeare Martineau’s corporate team.
Edwin James Group, a multidisciplinary engineering services provider, has purchased Automated Control Solutions Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries; Automated Control Solutions Limited and ACS Electrical Engineering Limited, together trading as ACS.
Established in 1998 in Staffordshire, ACS is a control systems integration services provider that operates services across two divisions: systems integration and electrical engineering. The business specialises in software and electrical-based control services for the manufacturing sector and focuses on working with large corporate customers in the food and beverage, brewing and liquid processing industries.
The acquisition will help enhance Edwin James Group’s existing industrial digital skill set and forms part of the company’s ‘buy-and-build’ growth strategy.
Paul Cantrill, managing director at ACS, said: “It’s really exciting to be joining the Edwin James Group. Our two businesses share a number of customers and the same values including a commitment to high-quality service.
“Edwin James is going from strength to strength, and being part of a national organisation will provide structure and greater scope for growth for ACS and its employees.”
Acting on behalf of the shareholders ACS, the Shakespeare Martineau team consisted of Duncan James (corporate), Sam Naunton (corporate), Lisa Bauroth (corporate), John Maple(corporate) Charlotte Cassells (commercial), Victoria Bovington (real estate), Huw Witty (tax) Rhys Wyburn and Ewan Carr (employment).
Duncan James, partner at Shakespeare Martineau, who led the deal, said: “We are delighted to see yet another business in the Midlands attracting attention from a national player and glad to have supported them in this transaction that will have significant benefits for both parties.”
All ACS staff will be retained, including the leadership team, as part of the deal.
