About this leadership discussion

19th June, 2025
6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
University College Birmingham, B3 1JB

We have the pleasure of inviting you to a dinner with The Rt Hon. Baroness Smith, Minister for Skills, with responsibility for FE and HE policy, in the new Labour government. The dinner will take place at University College Birmingham, on Thursday 19 June.

With the government’s focus on skills as a key driver behind its five stated missions, universities and colleges have a crucial role to play in the future success of the UK. Baroness Smith of Malvern is keen to hear directly from FE and HE sector leaders as to what your institution needs from the government, to ensure it can play its part in helping drive forward the government’s mission driven agenda.  We will also hear her remarks on future FE and HE policy, as she reflects on her first year back in government, and network with fellow FE and HE leaders from across the country.

This is an invitation-only event, bringing together a select group of senior leaders from the education sector for discussions over a three course sit-down dinner prepared by the very talented students of University College Birmingham. Please arrive at 6pm for arrival drinks and registration. The call to dinner will be at 6.45pm.
