Supporting Leicester Children's Hospital Appeal with help from the Leicester’s Islamic community

Plans for a new state-of-the-art children’s hospital at Leicester Royal Infirmary reached a key milestone this week – hitting £5million in donations through the Leicester Children’s Hospital Appeal, the charity behind the appeal to give the East Midlands its first children’s hospital.

Currently the only region in England without a dedicated, single-site children’s hospital, the proposed plans will bring all children’s hospital services together under one roof, meaning quicker diagnoses and treatment times and reducing the lengths of stay and stress for the patients and their families.

The appeal is now one step closer to achieving its £7.5million target, following a £250,000 donation from Leicester-based Islamic charity, Drop of Compassion, a charity that works in Malawi, Bangladesh and West Bengal providing long term sustainable solutions through water, health, education, international emergency relief and sustainable livelihoods.

Stephen Woolfe, a consultant in our private client team, is Chairman of the Leicester Children’s Hospital Appeal. On reaching the significant milestone he said: “We are deeply grateful to Drop of Compassion and the Muslim community in Leicester for such a generous donation to the appeal.

“To have raised £5million already shows how much the people Leicester care about giving our children the new hospital they deserve. We are deeply grateful to all of the families, businesses and community groups who have already contributed towards helping us get to this point.”

Roy Botterill, head of our Leicester office added: “Our Leicester office has a long-standing history of supporting the local community and we're proud that our people are helping to make a positive difference. Our people are at the heart of our business and it's important to us that we power the potential and support them with whatever causes they are passionate about.

"Leicester is famous for its diversity and it's fantastic to see so many local charities and businesses with different faiths and beliefs working together to contribute to a better and brighter future for our people, our community and our environment.
