Government scheme

The government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will remain open until 31 October.
This was announced by the Chancellor on Tuesday 12 May 2020.Details of flexible furlough were announced on 29 May that individuals from 1 July will be able to return part-time whilst on furlough.

Furlough

If you have been placed on furlough, you will remain on furlough until the earliest of the following events:

  1. The Government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme ends – the current end date is displayed above
  2. Either you or us cease to be eligible for funding under that scheme – we will contact you to confirm if this is the case and follow up with you in writing
  3. We decide to cancel furlough leave and bring you back to work (giving you not less than one day's notice) – we will contact you to confirm if we require you to return to work before the coronavirus job retention scheme ends and confirm this in writing.

It's important to note that people will not automatically be on furlough until October. We continue to review furlough regularly and are bringing people back as soon as we are able to do so

Flexible furlough is available from 1 July - Line managers will discuss what this means for each individual over the coming weeks.

Changes to Furlough Payments

We remain committed to being transparent with you about the decisions we're facing at this time. We've already shared that, given the changes to the government's furlough scheme, we've been reviewing the current 10% top-up for those of our people on or going on furlough.

From 1 June we will no longer enhance the government's payments and so furlough payments will be at the government level of 80% of base salary up to £2,500 per month, effective from June's payroll. This will be reflected in this month's pay for anyone on furlough.

It's important to note that we'll continue to maintain the real living wage - no salary will be reduced below this level for anyone on furlough.

Holidays

You may take holiday during your furlough period, this means you will receive full salary for the days you book. Please either book your days via Cascade if you wish to do this (if you do not have access to IT please contact your HR Advisor).

Your line manager will discuss any of your pre-booked holiday which falls within furlough and how you plan to use it.

Please note that due to payroll processing dates, you have until the 20th of each month to submit your requests for or changes to holiday in time for each month's salary payments.

Bank Holidays

Bank holidays will be paid at full pay, you will see the extra top up in your payslip.

Day off for your birthday

If your day off for your birthday falls within your furlough period you can take this day at a later date when you return.

Payslips and P60s

You can access your pay slip via Cascade as usual, you will see a breakdown of any top ups you receive, including any bank holidays or holidays taken during your furlough period.

You can also access your P60s within Cascade.

Communications

We will continue to load any other letters and documents to Cascade in the usual way, we will notify you that you have a document waiting if you're already on furlough.

Please also remember to keep up to date with regular communications; including Sarah's shed talks (if you have not been receiving the SMS texts please contact Lisa Seel).
