Shakespeare Martineau celebrates success in the Legal 500
It’s a time for celebration at the firm after a fantastic set of Legal 500 results, recognising the hard work and dedication of a large number of teams and individuals across the firm.
Here are some of the highlights from this year’s edition of the directory:
Our areas of law
51 of the areas of law in which the firm operates were ranked on this year’s list, a stellar achievement reflecting the breadth and depth of our services and sector-based expertise.
14 of these were ranked as Tier 1, a recognition of our successes within those fields and areas over the past year, and of our continued ability to provide the very best legal advice and counsel.
Our sectors recognised as Tier 1 are:
Corporate and Commercial – Education in the West Midlands, Education: Institutions in London and Sport in the East Midlands.
Litigation and Dispute Resolution – Commercial Litigation, Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence: Claimant and Professional Negligence, all in the East Midlands, and Debt Recovery in the West Midlands.
2018 is also a significant year for the commercial litigation team in London and the Health and Safety team in Birmingham with both areas being ranked in the Legal 500 for the first time.
Private Capital – Family in Birmingham and in the East Midlands, and Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate in the East and West Midlands.
Real Estate – Commercial Property and Planning, both in the East Midlands.
Our people are right at the heart of everything we do, so it is excellent to see a whopping 131 of our lawyers were mentioned in this year’s directory.
Additionally, seven of our team were recognised as leading individuals, an acknowledgment of their authoritative position within their respective fields. These individuals are Alan Hamblett, Andrew Mellor, Brendan Walsh, Kendal Litherland, Mohammed Saqub, Roy Botterill and Smita Jamdar.
Three of our team were also welcomed into the Hall of Fame – a prestigious directory for individuals working at the pinnacle of the profession who continually go above and beyond in service to their clients. Andrew Whitehead, Energy, Brendan Walsh, Real Estate and Roy Botterill, Corporate, were all included in this year’s list – well done all!
In other news…
Successes in the Legal 500 were bolstered by some further good news in The Times’ Best Law Firms 2019, which highlights the top 200 legal practices in England and Wales. The list was built on the basis of research combining recommendations from both other legal practitioners and clients. Our inclusion saw specific recognition given to our work in IP, education, planning and landlord and tenant.
These recent commendations are a testament to the hard-work and dedication of all of our people and a representation of our continued ability to provide excellent legal counsel which repeatedly exceeds expectations.
Congratulations all round!
