• Defined benefit pension schemes are an extra challenge in corporate transactions and reorganisations. We work closely with corporate colleagues to identify the pensions issues, deal with due diligence and find solutions to fit the commercial need and timescales of the clients
• Sponsoring employers who, for historic reasons, operate several pension schemes, often wish to merge these arrangements for reasons of efficiency, and economies of scale. Our involvement is tailored and includes preparation of a project advising on the powers held by the sponsoring employers and the trustees involved; advising in respect of the transfer process; assisting with member communications; drafting the merger agreement and advising in respect of the winding up of the remaining trust of the transferring scheme
