High Court condemns the deliberate reduction of the value of claims to pay lower Court fees

2015 saw the Ministry of Justice dramatically increase court fees, with fees for issuing a money claim over £10,000 now standing at 5% of the value (capped at £10,000). Many have argued that this created a bar to access of justice with many simply not being able to afford to bring a claim, particularly in relation to personal injury claims as it no longer possible to recover ATE premiums from defendants.
